HOW WILL THE AUSSIE DOLLAR AT 75 CENTS AFFECT YOU?

Let’s start with our closest neighbours.

There has been quite a lot of discussion in the press at present with the Australia dollar reaching parity (dollar for dollar) with the New Zealand dollar.

For as long as most of us can recall it was always better value for us to travel to NZ for a holiday rather that for the Kiwis to come here as they would lose money on the exchange rate. Although thankfully it didn’t stop them coming.

As most of us are very aware, the higher Aussie dollar didn’t stop the Kiwis holidaying here in search of sunshine and the better exchange rate encouraged us Aussies to ski over there rather than in Australia.

So what does it mean for business now that our dollarvalue is equal to their dollar value?

It’s no secret that holiday businesses on the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Whitsundays and FNQ in 2015 are experiencing their best numbers since the GFC.

Suddenly we are attractive again, value wise for a holiday here in Queensland.

Just 12 months ago with the Australian dollar at $1.10 US exchange, it was more attractive for Americans and Asian tourists to travel to Hawaii, Bali and Thailand where they got better value for money.

2015 however sees a very different set of circumstances and again we are great holiday value for money both locally and internationally.

It doesn’t end there however.

It isn’t just holiday makers that see value for money inAustralia again.

For as long as management rights have existed, (about 50 years), Kiwis have been a major player in the ownership of these specialised businesses,

After the GFC however, with the Aussie dollar high, the New Zealand dollar low and the NZ property market in a spot of trouble, the Kiwi buyers stopped coming.

Suddenly things have turned around and we are again seen as good value for a sea change or business change to the East Coast of Australia.

Enquiry has again picked up from across the ditch and our New Zealand brethren are again making the pilgrimage here in search of greener business pastures.

For management rights and motel owners looking to sell, this is great news as it opens up much greater markets for your businesses, with cashed up, knowledgeable and willing buyers creating competition for sales.

Thanks to the internet, enquiries come from all over the world these days looking at business opportunities, and the majority of these overseas buyers know exactly what they are looking for by way of locations and values they can expect here.

Good value, well priced, well presented businesses are in very keen demand at present so if you have been hanging in there waiting for the market to improve before you try and sell your business, then your time is now.

At RnR we pride ourselves on giving honest, and the most up to date advice on the market for both management rights and motels.

We would love to hear from you.
